One Time $90 Payment for Some Medicare Beneficiaries: Who Is Eligible?

The U.S. government has announced that some people enrolled in Medicare Part B will receive a one time payment of $90. The payment is intended to help cover part of the Part B premium. It is not a monthly payment and will be issued only once.

Who may receive this payment?

According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the payment is for some people who:

• Are enrolled in Original Medicare and Part B

• Live in the United States

• Do not receive Medicaid assistance to pay their Part B premium

• Do not pay an income related monthly adjustment amount, known as IRMAA

People enrolled in Medicare Advantage, also known as Part C, are not eligible for this payment.

When and how will the payment be sent?

Most eligible people are expected to receive the payment by direct deposit. Those who do not have direct deposit will receive a paper check at their address on file. CMS says most direct deposits are expected around October 8, 2026. Paper checks may arrive later in October.

Will this payment be made every month?

No. The $90 payment will be issued only once. It does not permanently reduce the monthly Medicare premium. If you believe you are eligible but have not received the payment, check your coverage and payment information.
