What Is Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage)?

When people talk about Medicare, many are familiar with Part A and Part B. However, one of the most important parts of Medicare is Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage, which can provide more comprehensive health coverage and additional benefits.

What Is Medicare Part C?

Medicare Part C, also called Medicare Advantage, is offered by private insurance companies that contract with the federal government to provide Medicare benefits.

These plans are required to cover all services included under Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance).

What Does Medicare Advantage Cover?

All Medicare Advantage plans must provide at least the same coverage as Original Medicare. In addition, many plans offer extra benefits, such as:

* Prescription drug coverage (included in many plans)

* Dental services

* Vision care, including routine eye exams and eyewear

* Hearing services and hearing aids

* Fitness and wellness programs

* Certain preventive services and other supplemental benefits

The availability of these additional benefits varies depending on the insurance company and the specific Medicare Advantage plan.
